Using MailHop Outbound with Mail.app

This document describes how to configure Mail.app 3.6 (included with Mac OS X 10.5.x Leopard) to work with MailHop® Outbound.

Mail.app: Preferences

Select "Preferences..." from the Mail menu.

Mail.app: Choose Accounts

Click on Accounts to go to the Accounts tab.

Mail.app: Click on e-mail account

On the left sidebar, click on your e-mail account.

Mail.app: Edit Server List

On the right side of the window, click on the drop-down next to Outgoing SMTP server and select "Edit Server List"

Mail.app: Add Outgoing SMTP server

Click the plus button to add an Outgoing SMTP server

Mail.app: Enter server information

In the Account Information area below, set the following information:

Description: outbound.mailhop.org
Server name: outbound.mailhop.org

Mail.app: Advanced Settings

Click on the Advanced tab and set the following information:

Choose "Use Default Ports"
Check "Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)"
Authentication: "Password"
User Name: Your DynDNS.com username (not your e-mail address)
Password: Your DynDNS.com password

Then click on the OK button.

Mail.app: Select Outbound Server

Finally, when you are back at the Accounts window, just select outbound.mailhop.org as your Outbound SMTP server and you are all set!
