Before creating an account with DynDNS.com, please read our Acceptable Use Policy. In particular, please note that you may have only one free account at any time, even if you administer accounts on behalf of others. However, you may have as many paid accounts as you desire. If you wish to have multiple accounts, we recommend purchasing Dynamic DNS Pro. Please also note that hosting copyrighted materials using filesharing services such as torrent trackers is likewise prohibited.
If you are having trouble connecting to services at your Dynamic DNS or Custom DNS hosts, please see our article on common networking problems and solutions here. Our Knowledge Base also contains a plethora of information on a wide variety of topics, from DNS and email to web servers.
If you have lost the password to your account, you can reset the account's password here. An email will be sent to the address on file for the account to confirm the reset. If your account's email address is invalid, and the account is free, please contact support to request account deletion. If the address is valid, we cannot make changes to the account.
Please note: It is extremely important to ensure that the email on file for your account is valid and up-to-date. If you lose your password or otherwise lose access to the account, the only way to regain access is by resetting the password, which requires access to the email address on file. If you do not have access to the email address, you may not be able to recover your account.
If you created a new account but did not receive the confirmation email, please double-check your spam and bulk mail folders to ensure the message was not accidentally filtered out. You will need to ensure our support@dyndns.com email address is properly whitelisted in your anti-spam settings, then use a reset password email to confirm the account.
If you still cannot receive the confirmation email at that address, you can wait 48 hours for the account to be removed and recreate it with a new address, or you can create a second account with a new address and allow the original to expire.
If you are having trouble staying logged into your account, you most likely do not have cookies properly enabled. Our login system uses cookies to uniquely identify your web browser and login session after you enter your username and password on our site. These cookies do not store your password or any other private information, and are perfectly safe. Please ensure cookies are enabled in your browser, and that dyndns.com is specifically whitelisted to avoid login issues.
If you have accidentally closed your account, and your account contained paid services such as Dynamic DNS Pro or Custom DNS zone, please contact our billing team and provide your username and billing information such as invoice numbers. If you had a free account, you may simply recreate your account at any time.
You may change the timezone and time format displayed in your account here.
From within your account, you may change the email address and change the password for your account at any time. You will receive a confirmation email for either change. If you do not have access to the account, you can use the reset password form to regain access.
You may change your account name at any time on the Change Username page. Username changes are $10.00 USD.
If you wish to close your account, you may close your account here. Please note that closing the account does not automatically refund services. If you wish to receive a refund for services within the first fifteen days of purchase, please contact our support team via the online support form and request a refund, including the invoice numbers of the services in question. Services beyond the fifteen-day refund window cannot be refunded to a credit card; please see our Refund Policy for more information. Please also note that accounts containing domain registrations cannot be closed.
You can view all purchases made on your account on the Order History page (including a printer-friendly version of your invoices), and view your stored credit cards and vouchers on the Billing Profile and Vouchers page.
You may subscribe or unsubscribe from our mailing lists at any time on the Mailing List Management page. You may also send a request to our support team to have your account unsubscribed from any lists.
At this time, DynDNS.com currently disallows the use of disposable email services (such as Mailinator) for account contact addresses. Since these mailboxes are temporary and insecure by design, it is possible for a third party to reset the password for an account and gain unauthorized access.
Accounts found using disposable email addresses run the risk of being terminated without notice. If you do not wish to use your primary email address with DynDNS.com, there are a number of free services available. DynDNS.com does not sell or otherwise disclose customers' email addresses to third parties.
At this time, DynDNS.com does not provide web hosting or mail hosting services. We do provide a number of mail-related services in our MailHop® suite, such as outgoing mail relay with MailHop Outbound, incoming spam scanning, virus elimination and alternate port relaying with MailHop Relay, mail queuing during downtime with MailHop Backup MX, and redirecting mail to mailboxes hosted elsewhere with MailHop Forward. We also provide URL forwarding services with WebHop.
However, we do provide Spring Server℠ VPS hosting, which provides a virtual dedicated server on which you can host mail, web, and any other services you need.
Update 10/10/2009: We've received some reliable information about the current state of the PRC firewall:
If you are in China and are experiencing issues updating or connecting to DynDNS.com services, please use the WebSitePulse Great Firewall of China Website Test to determine if the problem is being caused by the PRC national firewall.
In September of 2002, the PRC began a policy of blocking domains which it found to contain certain types of information. Because our service provides a way to easily create new domain names and map them to any IP address, our service was also targeted for this blocking. On March 3, 2003 we determined that the domains:
were included in this blocking. The Chinese national firewall is an ever-changing entity, and as a result it is impossible to tell which of our domains are currently blocked at any given time, nor are we able to determine for how long a domain will remain blocked or unblocked. We have had varying reports from customers within China; on more than one occasion, a customer in Hong Kong was able to connect and update his services while another customer just across town was completely blocked.
Because of the PRC firewall, we cannot guarantee the availability of our services for visitors in China or Hong Kong. You can learn more about internet censorship in China here.
