Create a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) 

To generate a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) for common applications, please see our Commands for Generating CSR for SSL Certificate knowledge base article.

If your application is not listed, please consult your vendor's documentation. You will be asked for your common name which is the fully qualified domain name and a cerficiate signing request which looks like:

Initiate your request 

To obtain SSL certificates, you will to create an account, or, if you already have an account, login to that account.

To begin the process, click on "Add Host". You will be asked for the common name and the CSR. Your CSR will be validated against the common name provided. If it is correct, you will be asked for contact information to validate the certificate and other contact information. Your SSL Certificate will be added to your cart and you will need to checkout to complete the process.

Depending on the SSL Certificate that you request, you will receive a registration confirmation e-mail to complete the process.

Approve your request  

QuickSSL Certificates

In several minutes, you will receive an email from supportcd@geotrust.com that contains a link to approve the certificate request along with the contact information. After clicking the 'I Approve' button, the order will complete and your certificate will be sent.

True BusinessID Certificates

After the order is placed a fax will be sent to the organization contact with directions to verify the validity of the organization.

Install your certificate 

After you complete the process, you will be given a root certificate-authority signed SSL certificate.

Installation is fairly straightforward, but each application is different so you will have to consult the vendor's documentation for specifics.
