Recent improvements to the Dynamic Network Services, Inc. (DynDNS) domestic network have assured availability to Internet users served by the bandwidth provider Cogent Communications. Recent changes in core Internet routing would have left Cogent Communications' customers unable to reach and use DynDNS' West coast presence.
Without augmentation, three percent of the global Internet would not optimally reach our West Coast site. While that number may seem small when compared to the size of the global Internet, we anticipated a significant performance impact to Cogent customers, said President and Chief Technology Officer Tom Daly. Assuring that were available to everyone on the Internet is critical.
The event occured at approximately 5:50am EDT, October 5, 2005. No impact was observed to DynDNS' DNS, MailHop, Recursive DNS and Network Monitoring services. DynDNS engineers carefully monitored the situation to ensure performance and reachability.
Were always happy to increase the carriers in our blend of bandwidth providers, said CEO and CFO Jeremy Hitchcock. The additional carrier is nLayer Communications.
