Members NIC Retired

April 4, 2003

Continuing the transition begun with the launch of a newly re-organized www.dyndns.org in February, DynDNS.org today announces the retirement of the Members' NIC at members.dyndns.org. Since August, 1999, the NIC had been the core location to manage DynDNS.org accounts, hostnames, and domain names. Account management is now seamlessly integrated with the rest of the DynDNS.org Web site, making the existing extensive technical support documentation even easier to access.

"Everything is more modular, and we have a huge capability for redundancy and fault-tolerance now," according to Tim Wilde, DynDNS.org CEO and system administrator. "Gone are the days that a single server failure could cause 1/3 of updates to fail until it was replaced or removed. Failures are now handled automatically, and in real time, with no impact to our customers."

For the forseeable future, links within members.dyndns.org will be automatically redirected to the new locations within www.dyndns.org, but please be sure to update any bookmarks pointing to members.dyndns.org appropriately. Update clients should continue to use members.dyndns.org, not www.dyndns.org, to perform updates.
