As IPv4 continues its slow ride toward the inevitable sunset, Dynamic Network Services Inc. (Dyn Inc.) is committed to getting a head start with its successor, IPv6. To help ourselves and our customers make a smooth transition, Dyn Inc. has drawn up a public IPv6 implementation plan, complete with an ongoing update of our progress for each step of the journey.
As part of this IPv6 initiative, we have recently added an IPv6 test server ns2.v6.mydyndns.org for Custom and Secondary DNS customers. Entering this nameserver into the delegation for a domain will allow visitors to perform DNS queries over IPv6, making DynDNS.com one of the first DNS providers to offer this functionality. After thorough testing, we will upgrade all of our DynDNS.com and Dynect Platform nameservers to provide dual stack IPv4/IPv6 connectivity.
If you are a Custom or Secondary DNS customer and youd like to give our new IPv6 test server a spin, you can check out our brief tutorial for setting it up here.
In other news, Dyn Inc. now has a Twitter page for our day-to-day goings-on in the company. From comments on industry events to fresh updates from trade shows and conferences, the Dyn Inc. Twitter aims to provide a more personal touch than the system status page.
Speaking of socializing, Dyn Inc. is proud to announce a series of videos on its new YouTube page. Visit the Dyn Inc. YouTube channel to check out our take on everything from DNS technology to office super powers. Be sure to subscribe to our channel and check in frequently for videos — some of them serious and a few of them seriously funny (at least we think so).
