Ten years of sweat, fun and ifconfig... have brought us to this day. Ten years of walking hand in hand with you, our cherished patrons, and building, slowly but surely, a close friendship. For your trust, we wanted to thank you personally.
We have posted on our blog a little overview of what is to come and what we expect to happen over the coming weeks. As a DynDNS.com insider however, we thought you would like some more information, especially on the technical side of things.
As many of you know, we now operate our global network from six locations around the world, making it extremely resilient to natural disasters. We share that network between our brands and services, meaning users with a single free Dynamic DNS host benefit from the same rock-solid platform as those who operate dozens of mission-sensitive services.
We recently traveled to Hong Kong and London, among other secret places, to install/upgrade new hardware and hook us up with new carriers, making these data centers more powerful and less likely to fail even in the face of exceptional load or large-scale disruptions. Expect pictures soon on our photostream!
These improvements will be phased in during the coming weeks, as we press the buttons and toggle the levers but users in Western Europe and Asia should already notice decreased serving time and diminished latency. As internet access and demand for DNS booms in both regions, this additional strength will help us to gracefully deploy future enhancements (shhh! We cannot tell you yet).
Finally, if you are operating in-house DNS for a corporate network, large or small, we also invite you to stay tuned, as companies will receive lots of DNS love from us over the coming days. Many of you have shared your frustration over maintaining BIND in house while your personal accounts were running smoothly on DynDNS.com. Were glad to announce we will soon open the doors and allow you to get your very own slice of BIND from the new boxes we were mentioning, kind of like in-house, minus the security and uptime worries. Hows that for sexy?
