Berkeley Internet Name Domain (BIND)
Time tested, reference implementation for serving DNS
I also evaluated one of your competitors, but when I saw them
trumpeting the fact that they don't use BIND, as if BIND were a tool
that no serious operation would use, I decided that they weren't the
kind of company I could trust with my DNS.
-- Mike
Schiraldi, DynDNS Customer
DynDNS exclusively uses the Berkeley Internet Name Domain (BIND), the
reference implementation of the domain name system (DNS). It is the
best tool for the job.
- Standards compliant - DNS is a core Internet standard
based on a number of RFCs. Proprietary DNS servers are not
fully compliant, which leads to unexpected behavior and possibly
downtime.
- Performance - BIND is running on more than half of the 13
global DNS root servers, and a large percentage of all nameservers
in use on the Internet are running various versions of BIND.
- Security - BIND has been actively developed for more than
two decades and has been hardened against virtually every conceivable attack.
- Powerful - BIND allows complete control over everything.
Our web interface, combined with BIND, allows you to manage and control
your DNS without being an expert.
BIND is an open source product, made
freely available by the
Internet Software Consortium (ISC), which actively develops and
maintains the software. ISC also hosts f.root-servers.net, one of the 13
Internet root servers.
DynDNS is also a member of the ISC BIND Forum.
